Summertime Saga Walkthrough
Everything you need to unlock every storyline, raise every stat, and uncover all secrets in Summertime Saga — from the very first day to the final scene. This guide covers all 30+ character routes, hidden items, mini-games, and the fastest path through the main story with no spoilers skipped.
Game Overview & What to Expect
Summertime Saga is a coming-of-age visual novel and dating simulator with an open-world structure, dozens of explorable locations, and over 30 branching character storylines. The protagonist begins the summer following his father’s unexpected death, uncovering a web of family debt, criminal connections, and neighbourhood secrets as the weeks progress.
Unlike linear visual novels, Summertime Saga gives you full control over your day. You choose where to go, who to talk to, which storylines to advance, and when to work on your stats. Nothing is locked permanently — every route can be completed in a single save file, and there is no game-over state. The walkthrough below is structured to help you unlock everything in the most efficient order while making sure you never miss a prerequisite.
Whether you are playing on PC or following our iOS setup guide, the in-game content is identical. This walkthrough applies to all platforms.
Stats & How to Raise Them
Every character route in Summertime Saga has at least one stat gate. Trying to progress without the right stat level simply blocks the next scene. Knowing where and how to raise each stat is the single biggest time-saver in the game. Invest in the stats below from day one and you will never be blocked mid-route.
Charisma
Required for most dialogue-heavy routes. Gates multiple key story scenes.
Talk to characters dailyIntelligence
Needed for school-based routes and several puzzle mini-games.
Study in your room each morningDexterity
Required for athletics and sports-related storylines. Rises quickly.
Exercise at school gym dailyStrength
Needed for specific confrontation scenes and the boxing subplot.
Train at the local gym (costs $5)Each morning: study (Intelligence), then exercise (Dexterity). Each afternoon: gym if you have money (Strength), then go talk to a character (Charisma). This single daily loop raises all four stats simultaneously and prevents any route from blocking you more than 2–3 days into it.
Main Story Walkthrough
The main story is the spine of Summertime Saga. Several character routes are locked behind it, so progressing it consistently even while pursuing side routes keeps your options open. Below are the four main phases of the central narrative.
The First Week — Setting the Scene
Days 1–7 · Introductions, school, and your first neighbours
Wake Up and Talk to Mom
On day one, head downstairs and speak to your mother. This triggers the opening cutscene revealing the debt situation and introduces Debbie’s character. Do not skip this it unlocks your first job at the mall and sets the financial system active.
Visit the School on Day 1
Head to school immediately on day one. You meet Erik, Becca, and Jenny here, which starts three separate side routes automatically. Talking to all three on the first visit saves you a full in-game day versus visiting them separately.
Explore the Neighbourhood
On day two, explore every location on your map: the park, the mall, the pier, the trailer park, and the church. Many characters only appear in their locations after you have visited once. The Miss Dewitt route, for example, cannot begin until you enter the school library which you cannot enter until visiting school on day one.
Talk to Diane at the Farm
Visit the farm on the right side of the map and speak to Diane. She starts the garden quest line which is a reliable early source of income. Growing and selling vegetables removes the money pressure from most early-game decisions and lets you train at the gym without worrying about the $5 fee.
Accept the Delivery Job
Talk to the pizza shop owner on Main Street and take the delivery job. This job is available any afternoon and pays $25 per shift. It is the most accessible income source before Diane’s farm produces revenue, and it scales your income so you can afford stat-boosting activities from week one.
Uncovering the Debt — Mid-Game Investigation
Days 8–25 · The truth about your father and the loan sharks
Search the Attic for the Hidden Key
After raising Charisma to level 3, return home and head to the attic. Search the boxes in the upper-left corner to find the basement key. This key unlocks the basement area and begins the investigation into your father’s past, which is the trigger for the main story’s second act.
Visit the Police Station
Talk to Officer Deborah at the police station during the morning. Bring the documents found in the basement — you need Intelligence level 4 to interpret them correctly in the dialogue. Deborah gives you a case number that unlocks the court records and reveals the first named suspect in the debt conspiracy.
Confront Rump at the Casino
The casino is locked until you complete Jenny’s route to at least the second scene. Once inside, find Rump in the back room during evening hours. This confrontation requires Charisma level 5 or higher. Choosing the wrong dialogue here does not end the route — it just delays it by three in-game days.
Find the Second Set of Documents
After the Rump confrontation, return to the basement and search the locked cabinet. You need to have completed the locksmith mini-game in town first, which is unlocked via the Erik storyline. The second set of documents names the final antagonist and triggers the main story’s third act.
Completing phase two unlocks phase three scenes that cannot be reversed. Before you proceed, make sure you have started the routes for Mia, Ms. Dewitt, and Annie — these three routes become significantly more complex if you miss their early trigger scenes before act three begins.
The Reckoning — Late-Game Storyline
Days 26–45 · Confronting the criminal network
Recruit Erik as Your Ally
Erik’s route must be complete before his final story role unlocks. If you have not finished Erik’s personal storyline, do that now. His assistance in the late-game confrontation changes several cutscenes and adds a unique scene with the main antagonist.
The Warehouse Confrontation
Following the map found in act two, head to the warehouse on the pier at night. You need Strength level 6 and Charisma level 6 for the full resolution. Coming in under-levelled still completes the scene but skips one unique CG and two pieces of dialogue that explain the backstory in full.
Return to the Police Station — Final Report
After the warehouse scene, report back to Officer Deborah. This scene completes the main story investigation arc and triggers the epilogue for the criminal conspiracy. The debt is resolved here and the financial pressure on your character is permanently lifted for the remainder of the game.
Post-Main Story — Free Roam & Route Completion
Days 46+ · All routes unlocked, finish everything at your pace
Check Your Route Progress in the Journal
Open the in-game journal (top-right corner of the map screen). Every character route shows a progress percentage. Sort by lowest progress to identify which characters you have neglected. Several late-game routes for characters like Mrs. Johnson, Roxxy, and Judith only become available after the main story is complete.
Complete Any Remaining Stat Gates
By this point your stats should be high enough for most routes. If any route is still blocked, focus the morning stat routine for three to five days and the gate will clear. No route requires a stat above level 8 in the current version of the game.
All Character Routes Overview
Summertime Saga features more than 30 distinct characters, each with their own multi-scene storyline. Below are the key characters grouped by how they are unlocked. Visit the homepage for the latest news on upcoming character additions.
Debbie (Mom)

Jenny

Miss Dewitt

Diane

Mia

Sister Angelica
Church · Day 3Located at the church on the west side. Her route is independent of the main story and can be completed entirely in weeks one and two.
Roxxy
School · Charisma 4Queen bee at school. Starts cold and requires repeated Charisma checks. Her full route unlocks four additional minor character sub-routes.
Mrs. Johnson
Post-Main StoryNeighbour who only opens up her full route after the main story is resolved. Intelligence 6 is required for her science lab scenes.
Judith
Art Class · Intel 3Art teacher at school. One of the shorter routes but contains some of the most visually detailed scenes. Start her early to clear it before the main story climax.

Hidden Items & Secrets
Summertime Saga hides collectibles, CG unlocks, and bonus scenes across every map location. Most players miss at least a third of these on a first playthrough. The list below covers the most impactful hidden content.
Hidden Keys and Locked Locations
Items that unlock map areas or storage
Basement Key — Attic, Upper-Left Box
Required for the main story investigation. Found in the attic of your house inside a box in the upper-left corner. Only accessible after raising Charisma to level 3.
Shed Key — Diane’s Route
Given by Diane after her third story scene. Unlocks the garden shed which contains crafting materials used in two different side routes. Many players complete Diane’s route without realising the shed unlocks additional content elsewhere.
Art Room After Hours — Judith Route Scene 4
After completing the fourth scene in Judith’s route, the art room becomes accessible during evening hours. This unlocks an otherwise inaccessible easel mini-game that raises a hidden Creativity stat used in two late-game routes.
The Hidden Stash — Park Behind the Big Tree
Inspect the base of the large oak tree in the park during the afternoon. The stash contains $150 cash and a letter that adds optional context to the main story antagonist. Easy to miss since the interaction zone is very small.
Many hidden item interaction zones are tiny. Playing on PC at full resolution makes these spots much easier to spot than on a small phone screen. Check our PC installation guide if you have not set it up yet.
Mini-Games & Side Activities
Summertime Saga breaks up the visual novel format with a wide variety of interactive mini-games. Some are required to advance routes, others are purely optional money-earners or stat boosters. Here is what each one does and whether it is worth your time.
| Mini-Game | Location | Reward | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gardening | Diane’s Farm | $50–$120 per harvest | Optional but recommended |
| Pizza Delivery | Main Street | $25 per shift | Optional income |
| Lock Picking | Town (Erik route) | Unlocks cabinet in basement | Main story required |
| Fishing | The Pier | $10–$40 per session + bait items | Optional |
| Boxing | Local Gym | Raises Strength +2 faster than regular training | Optional |
| Art Easel | School Art Room (evening) | Raises hidden Creativity stat | Needed for 2 routes |
| Card Game | Casino | $25–$200+ per win | Optional income |
| Science Lab | School Lab | Raises Intelligence +1 faster than studying | Mrs. Johnson route |
PC vs iOS: Key Differences
The game content is 100% identical across all platforms. The differences are all about the experience of playing. If you are deciding which platform to use or want to switch, the comparison below covers everything that matters in practice.
Playing on PC
Recommended for first-time players and completionists
Larger Screen Makes Navigation Easier
Hidden items, interaction zones, and fine text all benefit from a large display. Our complete PC installation guide walks you through the setup in under five minutes.
Mouse Precision for Mini-Games
The lock-picking and gardening mini-games are significantly easier with a mouse than with touch input. First-time players attempting these on mobile often fail more attempts before succeeding.
Save File Management Is Simpler
On PC, save files are stored in a standard folder and are easy to back up. This matters for a 60+ hour completionist run where you never want to risk losing progress.
Playing on iOS
Great for casual progress during commutes and short sessions
Play Anywhere
The iOS version lets you make daily-routine progress — stat-raising, income collection, and dialogue — during commutes. Our iOS installation guide covers the sideload process step by step since the game is not on the App Store officially.
Touch Controls Feel Natural for Story Scenes
Tapping through dialogue and making choice selections feels natural on a phone screen. Many players use iOS for story-heavy routes and switch to PC for mini-game-heavy sections.
You can copy your save file from iOS to PC and back using iTunes file sharing. This lets you do story sessions on iOS during the day and detailed exploration on PC at home. Both platforms read the same save file format.
Pro Tips for New Players
These are the things that experienced players wish they had known before starting. Each one saves hours of backtracking or confusion.
Eight Rules That Save Hours of Backtracking
Follow these from day one
Check Every Location on Every New Day
New NPCs appear at random as the story progresses. The cook at the pizza shop, the stranger at the pier, and the visitor to your neighbour all have storylines but only appear after specific days. Check every location once every few in-game days to catch new appearances.
Never Spend Your Last $5
Keep at least $5 in your wallet at all times. Several story triggers are locked behind having money to buy an item or pay an entry fee, and being broke at the wrong moment delays a route by a full in-game day while you go earn income.
Read the Journal After Every New Scene
The journal updates with hints after every scene. These hints often reveal exactly where to go next and which character to talk to. Players who ignore the journal end up wandering map locations trying every interaction, which wastes multiple in-game days.
Save Before Every Stat Check
Stat checks in dialogue do not always announce themselves. Save before any conversation that feels like it is heading toward a major decision or confrontation. If a check fails and the dialogue takes a bad branch, you can reload instantly rather than waiting days for the scene to re-trigger.
Do Not Neglect Erik’s Route
Erik is the most important ally character in the game. His personal route unlocks the locksmith skill, provides access to the casino, and gives you a unique scene in the final main story confrontation. Many players treat him as a side character and miss all three of these benefits.
Farm Income Is Not Optional Early On
Diane’s gardening route is the best early-game income source. The initial seed cost pays back within three harvests, after which each harvest generates $80–$120 with minimal time investment. Start it on day two and your money problems disappear by week two.
Talk to Every NPC at Every Location at Least Once
Background NPCs that appear to be decorative often have one or two lines of dialogue that act as hints for hidden item locations or upcoming route triggers. The stranger in the park and the regular at the cafe both give indirect clues that save you map-hunting time later.
Keep Multiple Save Slots
Use three save slots: one for your current session, one before any major story choice, and one clean save from day one week one. The day-one save lets you start a fresh route without rebuilding your whole game if a new update adds early-trigger content for a character.
